Myanmar Day 3 - Pictures of Yangoon

Our next destination is getting around the city and find out ferry to Dala. Fell in love already with the smell of the market here, we decided to just walk following map direction to main river that connects Yangoon to Dala.

Small streets with old buildings

Fresh market is just about everywhere. Almost in every corner. Fresh fruit, fresh food all are within reach. So why think about fast food? Better not!

Phone is expensive in here. Only few people have mobile phone here as SIM card is expensive (US$20-US$50 and expired in a a month!!). So, this street payphone is the solution. Illegal but everywhere and cheap

If you walk down the street, you'll notice there are plenty of red spots all along. That comes from the habit of people chewing the beetle leave mix. Easily find in the street. It's a mixture of chalk,  a kind of nut and wrap in beetle leave. It has antiseptic benefit for oral health but will leave red color on the lips and blackish color to the teeth.

here it is the beetle leave mix. 5 pcs for 1000 kyats

Official public transport in China and Indian Quarter

most of local myanmar wear this kind of powder in their face. they believe it keeps their skin soft and smooth. I should've tried one :D
